Yeah I truly enjoyed your story. Owning an aquarium takes a lot of time and devotion. Those little swimming fish are reliant on us taking good care of them. Your story was wonderful, at some times even funny. I have heard of many stories of people taking care of fish and sometimes you can't help but to chukkle at some things. A good point to this story is people can definitely learn from our own mistakes. It's just sad that some fish died in the process. But hey you may have lost fish but you also were able to breed them to. Life was created in your aquarium.

I know I love my aquariums. They are so relaxing as you can sit there and watch them swim and feed them after a long days work. A great hobby to be in if people have the time and willingness to learn to take care of fish properly.

I have owned aquariums too or perhaps it was that they owned me. I tried everything from a scientific water analysis regimen all the way to a form of benign neglect. Each approach worked in its own way. Life is tenacious thriving to its own measure and in its own way often under extraordinary circumstances. You have a knack for showing us the extraordinary in the mundane Rabbi. Thanks.

If you go into a pet shop when they first open, before they clean, you will see many fish floating at the top of the tanks. they do not want the public to see this. I know a lot about the secret side of this.

Your points; “Owning an aquarium also taught me what it means to care for another living creature” and “Searching for serenity in our busy and complex world is not easy” are both well taken in our busy and often selfish world.

It is too bad that many often find even a small aquarium too much time and work as it need not be for most basic aquariums.
As someone that has been in the hobby for about 40 years, nearly 30 professionally in research and aquarium set-up maintenance and design I have to blame a lot of this on the very bad information that is available, most of it anecdotal with the same so-called facts passed back and forth without anyone bothering to check these facts via research.

I personally have been working hard at trying to get good information out there (including re-researching what I already have written so as to correct myself when new research shows I need correction).
